Low Visibility
‘Low Visibility’ alludes to the phenomenon of diminished light, within which boundaries between objects appear to dissolve, and it’s no longer clear what you’re looking at. Your brain, struggling to grasp what it’s seeing, starts to fill things in until the abstract field stirs with phantom movement.

The paintings were created in summer as Nevitt felt the effects of the Canadian fires and watched the rise of fascism. She was thinking about Morandi and his still lifes—known for their simplicity and stillness, but made during fascist times. Nevitt asked herself: How would my own still-lives behave within a fascist regime?
